Avenging Angel

When friends and love ones get hurt we have a habit of going on the
defensive for them even if the problem does not affect our lives in
any way what so ever. It comes with love as a free gift. When we see
someone in pain or troubled we want to help. Even when it is
antithetical to our nature.
An odd and sometimes not so common reaction to someone we love being
harmed in some way is when we feel the need to right a wrong that is
years and sometime decades in the past. We often say that time heals
all wounds but does time right all wrongs?
Time is an odd concept that humans tend to integrate into nearly
every detail of life. Our measurements of time are often limited in
both science and life in general. It is basically a useless tool and
yet we always want more of it.
Time does not heal all wounds and it rarely rights any wrongs. But
are we right in stepping in and playing the avenging angel for a
loved one in at any point in time? Would doing nothing lesson our
love for them, or in the contrary would doing at least something
increase the value of our love?
It is all a matter of perceptions I'm afraid. Many things have to be
taken into consideration based on our morals and code of ethics.
Some might say that after a period of time a wrong is no longer
worth correction. That those who caused the problem have been
absolved by time. I have a very difficult time with that idea.
Then we get to the question that some people might ask. "Who are you
to judge?"
And my answer to that question is: "Who else can?"
